i just discovered some family members of mine are temporarily taking up a short residency in mexico city, so unbeknownst to them (yet!) i’ll be making a visit asap! i’ve already bookmarked a few restaurants there that i’d love to visit but i’ll be adding renowned Mexican chef Enrique Olvera’s tortilla factory Molino el Pujol to the love list. a casual tortilla shop in the tree-lined and trendy avenues of chic La Condesa, the very charming Molino el Pujol looks like it fits right in. and boy, did i get hungry writing this post (it’s tuesday so it may indeed require some tacos!). we’re going to get ourselves styled up, but comfy, too in a layered look in case it starts to heat up down here south of the border. we’re wearing a cool linen top with some great black khakis and over that a hooded poncho and one of my favorite hats — a lorna murray capri hat (foldable for travel, too!). we’ll pair that with some stylish flat sandals, strappy basket tote bag, and a braided wrap belt. while you’re awaiting your fresh tortilla feast, i think you might like reading up about famed mexico city artist, frida kahlo. Kahlo by Andrea Kettenmann is a concise biography and detailed chronological summary of the life of the artist, covering her cultural and historical importance introducing us to the rich body of Kahloâ€s work, exploring her fierce determination as an artist, and her significance as a painter, feminist icon, and pioneer of Latin American culture.
